The church cannot be herself without woman and her role...The feminine genius is needed wherever we make important decisions.”
– Pope Francis

Who are the 'fillies' and why are we 'feeding' them?  The 'fillies' are the female workers at Oaklawn who are often far from home, traveling with the horses to various racetracks around the country.  They are always in need of a little pampering, a little something extra...gloves, lotions, a prayer book, a candy bar, a book of stamps to send a note or a card to a family member back home.  Sheila Harrison has been heading up our effort each year to fill Filly Feed Bags for these women.  The bags are distributed at our December meeting; we fill them on our own, and return them in January.  Here's the 80 bags donated this year!
